Op. Dr. Halide Merve Ertalu

Eye Diseases Unit

Welcome to the Elite Hospital Eye Unit. Our aim in our department; Adhering to medical ethics and work ethics, respecting the rights of employees and patients, to provide our patients with the highest level of health service from the first moment they come to the clinic. Our service starts with giving the right appointment to the patients.

Since Elite Hospital Ophthalmology Unit is a research hospital that carries out academic activities as well as providing health services, we may sometimes have to give our patients an appointment for a later day than they would like. Appointment requests made by phone are tried to be made by our secretaries on the most suitable day and time. You can be sure that we will offer you the most ideal appointment, thanks to the answers we will get to the questions we will ask over the phone to learn about the complaints of our patients. Since some complaints require urgent examination and treatment, it is important for patients to fully indicate their medical condition. Our emergency patients are always given priority in our clinic. We also ask parents to tell their situation for eye examination of newborn babies.

Considering the registration process, we kindly ask you to arrive at least 15 minutes before the given appointment time. Our goal is to take all patients to the examination room at the given time. However, because we are a reference center, urgent cases are referred to our clinic. In this case, the appointments of some of our patients may be delayed unintentionally. Even if it is rare, if we have patients that we have to wait, we ask them to accept the issue with understanding. If you have previous surgery or examinations, we expect you to bring all your old reports and test results with you when you come to the examination.

If you are unable to attend an appointment for reasons beyond your control, please inform us 24 hours in advance. In this case, we can evaluate the time by giving another patient the chance to be examined. When you come to our clinic, we ask you to apply to the reception unit first. In this way, your examination registration will be done and then you will be taken to the waiting room. The examinations and tests performed at Elite Hospital may differ from the health services you have received before. In addition to detailed general eye examinations, we will have some additional tests that we will apply to some of our patients. Depending on the condition and severity of the disease, the examination and test procedures applied to some of our patients take between 1 and 6 hours. It is not always possible to predict this period in advance. To perform a complete retinal examination, patients need to dilate both pupils. Patients with dilated pupils may feel discomfort when they have to look at the light. Patients may have some difficulty in returning home, especially after the examination. We recommend that patients be prepared for this and seek help from their relatives. As a result of the examination and examinations, Op.Dr. Icon ALTAN will inform you about the diagnosis and plan your treatment together with you. In the meantime, we recommend that you ask all the questions that come to your mind.

Our clinician, who continues his educational activities besides clinical studies, shares his knowledge with many ophthalmologists both abroad and in the country, through theoretical and practical trainings on many subjects.
